November 2016 Block of the Month

This month’s block was inspired by Tiger Lilies, but since this is the month for “L,” it’s just “lily.”  I should have been a little more observant when I cut the petals, so the front ones were from a much lighter area of the fabric.  I think the left one shows that concept better than the one on the right.  So keep that in mind when you work on your block.lblock_finOnce I had them in place, I really didn’t want to redo them.  Below are some pictures of the layering process using the fabric glue stick.  For hand appliqué the glue is very temporary, the unit still has to be basted, but for getting the layering done quickly it was perfect.  The white glue for appliqué is my nemesis, maybe because I don’t use it often enough!  Just can’t seem to get those tiny dots.layer1layer2layer3
